Experts at Kanoda have been involved in a number of projects ranging from photovoltaic technology to energy policy.  This page features some projects that we have been involved in, which are anything but normal.


1. Very High Efficiency Solar Cell (VHESC)

The objective of the Very High Efficiency Solar Cell program is to design, build and demonstrate engineering prototype solar cell modules that have high efficiency beyond an absolute 50% and are manufacturable. To achieve this objective, the VHESC program will develop technologies to reduce the costs of the solar cells and optical components.




2. Silicon-Heterojunction Interdigitated-Back-Contact (SHJ-IBC) Solar Cell

The Silicon-Heterojunction Interdigitated-Back-Contact (SHJ-IBC) solar cell has a potential to reach 26%  efficiency due to the short-circuit current density and fill factor advantage of the back contact design, and the high open-circuit voltage of heterojunction structures. 



3. Sunrgi’s Xtreme Concentrated PhotovoltaicsTM (XCPVTM)

Sunrgi’s Xtreme Concentrated PhotovoltaicsTM (XCPVTM) carries a promise to produce large amounts of electricity at wholesale prices.  XCPVTM concentrates sunlight by 2000 times on highly-efficient triple-junction solar cells that are mounted on Sunrgi’s proprietary CoolMoveTM heat removal system and proprietary AccuTrackTM two-axis solar tracking system. 



4. Suiva’s ARTisun

Suniva develops, manufacturers and markets its ARTisun series high-efficiency silicon photovoltaic (PV) cells for clean, earth-friendly power generation and is dedicated to driving down the cost per watt of solar-generated power. 



5. Gujarat Photovoltaic Roadmap – 2010 to 2020

The vision of the Gujarat Photovoltaic Roadmap is to establish a self-sustainable PV infrastructure by the year 2020 to place Gujarat on a renewable energy path to address the challenges of energy crisis, environmental sustainability, and security concerns.



6. The Kalpasar Project

‘Kalpasar’ means a lake that fulfills all wishes.  The word originates from the Hindu mythological ‘Kalpavriksha’ – a tree that fulfills wishes.  The project visualizes a gigantic fresh water lake-dam to be created by closing the Gulf of Khambhat (in the Arabian Sea) and thereby harness the excess water of Narmada, Mahi, Sabarmati and Dhadar rivers.  Kalpasar is one of the most progressive projects undertaken by the Government of Gujarat, and holds the potential to fulfill long-term water needs of the state.
